I hope the CT will be able to charge with two 250kw at Superchargers 400V (plug on each side) one for each battery. Then, be able to charge at the Semi Mega charger at 800V at up to 500kw.
Sounds like you would enjoy the 500 mile range.
I expect Tesla to move to a monthly subscription
It sounds like you are smart with your money. I too have generally bought used and driven well over 200K. It sounds like you will make good use of the 500 mile range. This technology is a whole new...
It sounds like you are not scraping by to consider the tri-motor with FSD. That truck and FSD are wants not needs. You only need the tri-motor if you are pulling a trailer long distances or if you drive more than 300 miles every day.
Go for it if you want it and can afford it, but go into it...
From my calculations you will break even at best. You are probably looking at at 5-10K cost difference to own the Cybertruck. That is compared to buying new. If you compare to buying used, it is more.
I agree with most of what you have listed. Except- I expect the Cybertruck to use 450wh/mile without a load and 900 wh/mile when pulling a large trailer.
You left off mpg towing for gas -about 10mpg.
You are asking this like a gas vehicle. It doesn’t work exactly like that. If I’m on a long trip, I plan to arrive with at least 10% and don’t normally charge over 90%. Actually, I only charge enough to get to the next charger with at least 10%. This makes for the shortest charge times.
So...
I 100% agree. When I considered buying my first ev I tried to cost justify it. The math doesn’t work. At best, you will break even. Average cost is going to be $5-10K higher. There are other factors that got me to make the switch:
1) the fun factor is x2. You get the performance of a Corvette...
I own a Model 3 and Model S. Here is a ballpark comparison to an equivalent ICE vehicle.
charging at home costs 25% of gas
Charging at supercharger is 50% cost of gas
Charging at third party chargers (Blink, Electrify America, etc.) is the same cost as gas
I hope the CT will be able to charge with two 250kw at Superchargers 400V (plug on each side) one for each battery. Then, be able to charge at the Semi Mega charger at 800V at up to 500kw.
I like the way you are thinking. I hope the CT will be able to charge with two 350kw at Superchargers 400V (plug on each side) one for each battery. Then, be able to charge at the Semi Mega charger at 800V at up to 500kw.
