    But How...?

The best part is no part. Make the seat back the also the pass through door. Make the back window hinge inwards to be stored at the glass roof. Have the rubber seals slightly pressurised with on the board compressor creating an expandable positive seal. This could make the bottom seal when the...

How Much will the Tailgate Weigh?

It’s highly likely Tesla will use a class one fulcrum in the Cybertruck tailgate over the class three fulcrum they use in S3XY. It will look better and it’s probably easier to make stronger.

How Much will the Tailgate Weigh?

Also it’s about strength and lightness, Tesla is going to make it as light as possible to fit the intended use case. We have to remember the main issue we have around scratches and dents is not that it looks bad. The reason it “looks bad” is the potentiality of rust and deterioration that is...

I hear you. But a heat pump is used every time the vehicle moves. Generally in an ICE vehicle the engine is running the whole time and it’s just advantageous to use an easily controlled electric motor. I believe the Bollinger B1&B2 are going to include a hydraulic winch because they’re using...

I guess it’s good to play devils advocate on these things but I’m pretty sure a competent engineer can solve for failure modes of intermittent use.

How would you damage the traction motor? You’d literally put less strain on it than driving even if you were pulling it up vertically. Do you remember that scene in “The Gods must be crazy”? Where a Land Rover was momentarily left to its own devices and managed to winch itself up a tree? The...

    What would blow your mind?

Yeah that’s what meant but poorly articulated. The gateway allows the homeowner to power the house without energising the local grid.

    What would blow your mind?

In Australia if you don’t have a gateway the inverter will disconnect the solar system from the grid.

    What would blow your mind?

Te Tesla call it a gateway, in Australia it’s an extra option that isolates your home generation from the grid, allowing for back up power when the grid is down. My understanding is the gateway also allows the home owner to participate in the wholesale energy market. Tesla, I think, is using...

    What would blow your mind?

V2G cannibalises the powerwall business and the added complexity doesn’t provide compelling enough business case. However... camper trailer/caravan or power boat to grid that would/could make sense. A trailerable boat would probably be off the water more than on it, using that battery for...

I’m a big fan of this idea. A power take off would reduce weight and enable winching at high speed. A clutched planetary gear using software to manage where the power goes. It would be so much easier to control movement with just the accelerator rather than modulating power to wheels and winch...

In the Cybertruck config I was thinking portal hubs on fully independent suspension all around. Giving ground clearance (not running clearance or suspension clearance or whatever BS OEMs use to give a bigger number) of around 350-400mm! The winch spool and gearing could be mounted in the dead...

If you liked that then I’m sure you’ll like this. I think a setup similar to this on the Cybertruck would be epic.

If you could request three factory add-ons, what would they be?

My My point was that with 4 motors it’s possible to have each motor turn each wheel at exactly the same speed no matter the grip conditions, functioning just like front rear and centre differential locks in a mechanical system.

If you could request three factory add-ons, what would they be?

Having an electronic diff lock would be beneficial, possibly integrating all sensors available; if a wheel is off the ground or has less traction there’s a chance air pressure is also lower than the tyres with grip. The best solution is the Rivian idea with individual wheel motors. Quite easy...

If you could request three factory add-ons, what would they be?

O M G Number one would be an amazing factory option... does any other manufacturer do this? I would doubt it considering the millisecond reaction time required. Number 3 has had positive comments from Elon Musk and is all but confirmed. Number 4 is going to be difficult considering current...

Rather than adding another motor to run the winch, I wonder if a power take off from the front and rear motors would add too much complexity? A clutched planetary gear?

Cybertruck imagined with side mirrors and windshield wiper

Yeah I was talking about ev options generally, in Australia there aren’t many options and the Australian Government is making EVs more expensive than the ICE equivalent.... sooooo.. it’s hard to vote with your pocketbook when there isn’t an EV option in a reasonable price range. A new Renault...

different strokes I guess, but I your console preference is well outside the bell curve. I think yours will be an array of aftermarket displays... or you could just get a Rivian or EF-150 or.....? the hummer????
