The problem with my 2011 Sprinter and many other vintage and current Daimler and MB products is an inadequate 12 volt entertainment system. I discovered with the current pandemic that many commercial Apple Car Play compatible car stereo systems from China and Japan and Vietnam have gone.on sale. Unfortunately many big box store installers have been laid off. I purchased an Alpine 7” touch screen system with Blue Tooth iPhone compatibility and USB Apple car play compatibility together with Sirius XM receiver and antenna and compact 4 channel amp with new dash tweeters and door coaxial speakers for about $600 bucks. I added an Alpine rear camera and 120 watt powered subwoofer for another $300 to complete the system. With the help of Crutchfield instructions and Posi-Taps and a $40 Axxess special Sprinter harness that interacts with the Cambus it took me about 3 weeks to install it myself. I needed the help of my local Sprinter mechanic to remove the interior front door woofers so I could mount the replacement coaxials on the inner door panels. Some plastic part fabrication skills are necessary with a Dremel and rug cutting iron but that’s kind of what they used to teach us in shop classes in public high school last century. The final off the rack Alpine products function perfectly and sound sweet. Much much better than the 2011 original, I’m hoping the Cybertruck is even better.
