That is the old school way of building and selling vehicles. I expect better from Elon. The larger battery would cost several thousand dollars as an option and 30% of that would be profit. Elon could leave off the third motor and keep the resulting profit as well. There are a large number of...
The CT should make the best vehicle for evacuating from fires. There is no need for the engine to take in outside air so it will probably run until the tires catch fire. It can push stuff out of the way with less damage than other vehicles and can be packed with belongings and keep them secure.
It sounds like many of the people who ordered a CT from a foreign country will have to wait for some time to get their truck. CTs may not be approved for use right when their # comes up. People canceling multiple orders or having trouble getting the financing also will reduce the # of people...
If you get the dual or tri motor version and a motor fails you can still make it back to town/help. If you have the single motor version you can still have A/C or heat if the motor fails. If you have a regular spare tire in the vault you can mount that and perhaps you will be able to jack up...
A whole bunch of people got exited about the Elio. This would be a lot more expensive than an Elio was going to be but it would be a much better vehicle. Someone should post this on the Elio owners forum.
I had not paid any attention to hydrogen for several years. I just looked at the current distribution of H2 filling stations. Unless you live in CA or on the East coast there are none. It will be very hard to sell a Badger in Nebraska. I know, big deal, but it will be just as hard to sell...
Hard to get real scientific about a vehicle that is not out on the street but I am operating on the following premise/projections/ guesses. The CT will go about 2 miles on a KW. I have a Dodge diesel pickup (2001) and get right at 18 MPG. With my electric rates it will cost $.72 to get enough...
Charging with the generator would only happen if the power was out for a week or so. 3 days is our record over the last 40 years but who knows what might happen in the future.
I am a total newbie to Tesla. I looked at the rollout and after 5 days or so I reserved. I am 75 and don't drive much anymore. I probably average less than 20 miles per day and I have a couple of ICE cars that will need to be cycled once in a while. I think I will be just fine with a...
I don't want to incur the wrath of all you gear heads out there but I see a problem when 500K CTs hit the streets. It is pretty common to see a car hanging out of the 4th floor of a parking garage or through the window of a coffee shop or whatever. How far will a CT travel in the fraction of...
I ordered on the 25th of November. My place in line is 248,865. Someone predicted that production would very soon be 25,000 a month. That means roughly 10 months from startup. But 10% of the orders ahead of mine appear to be single motors. I ordered a dual so now my place is around 225,000...
According to Electrek Tesla has made major price cuts on nearly all models overnight. If they are having problems moving inventory then that should mean more resources will be devoted to the CT. At least that is what I will be thinking about to help me drift off to sleep tonight
I started waiting for an Elio in 2015. About the time I gave up on the Elio I found the CT. I am 75 so the wait is serious. It takes me 10 or 15 years to put some serious wear on a pickup. I think someone is going to get a nice used CT!
I suppose the truck uses the type of stainless that does not attract a magnet but If it did that would open up a new way to dress up the vehicle and it would take a load off the refrigerator.
