Funeral Mode - no, I’m not joking.

Ok, so I buried my Korean War veteran father today. We are in the procession from the mortuary to the cemetery a long way away and heaven forbid we take the freeway (I have said I like my speed). On the way I am the lead car behind the hearse and watching the escort vehicles blocking the intersections and do their leap-frog routine. It came to me that the CT would be ideal for the funeral escort role. Fast, short trips. Energy efficient. Perfect for single motor. Cheap. And who can’t miss seeing that blocking the intersection?

I also thought, does Tesla have a Funeral Mode plugged into Auto Pilot? This is a serious question. (I am a critical care nurse, we don’t think like normal people.) You are breaking traffic laws. Driving with hazard flashers on. Driving close to other vehicles though red traffic lights and stop signs. Wondering for when FSD becomes a reality, common and legal more than anything.

Of course, if any of those families succeed their suits against Tesla for people doing that and killing themselves with Autopilot (let alone FSD) you betcha we won't be able to override it anymore.

I agree that our human interface should be a choice. I do know that psychologically I and others in that situation are not at our optimum and it would have been safer to turn on FSD today.

Condolences on your loss. On a lighter note, I am hoping for a car wash mode. Rolls up the windows, turns wipers off (or whatever the CT will have), puts itself into neutral, and puts on some great music!

The loss of your father is a terrible thing, so painful, my sincere condolences. On another note, I was hoping for a Five Guys mode, where I can let go of the controls, and Cybertruck takes over, orders my burger just the way I like it, all while doing the lobster crawl to the window. Regarding funerals, at least around here, the slow procession and blinking hazard lights are accentuated with little purple flags on the hoods of the hearse and the immediate family's cars. They seem to be attached with a magnet. I wonder if they have versions for cars with body panels that aren't magnetic?

This is an idea that seeme like it would be fairly simple to implement, maybe someone at Tesla will
pass it along?

I lost my father a few decades ago and after he passed, I got a flag and a letter from the president
about his service in Korea. It was the first I (and my mother) had heard about it. He never mentioned Korea, only that he was “in the army.” Apparently he didn’t want his mother to know and worry and then just continued to keep it a secret.

Sorry to hear this. I hope his passing was painless for him.. it is much harder on the family. 2020 can end any time. Just heard today one of my best friends, who was living in Denver, died a few days ago. So glad got to visit him in January on our way home from Utah.
