We're told the battery might have a life of 1 million miles. That's awesome. However, none of that matters if the individual motors need to be replaced a lot sooner. Are there any estimates on the life of the motors? And what is the expected cost of replacing/fixing them?

It seems to be the motors were already rated for a million miles, I've listened to podcasts that claimed that other than defective motors, no other motors have been replaced.

Based on this video, couple bolts, couple plugs.
On this website a whole Tesla drop in kit is 11K, but motors of other brands are plus minus 4k?

Totally acceptable replacement cost IMO!

Why would anyone replace a motor that wasn't defective?

defective in this case means there was a flaw with the motor a manufaturing defect. Motors will reach a natural end of life and need to be replaced. this is not a defect.
