im making a wood gasafier, basically just for fun. I will at some point charge the CT with it, carbon neutral. unless of course I drop that project and do a fold out solar system. :ROFLMAO:
If the Tesla Solar Roof Tile concept catches on with two Tesla Power Walls each, we can still recharge our CT’s without a generator. I can’t tell you how many of my neighbors just scrap their concrete tile roofs every time they replace their rotted roof boards. We should be able to replace them with Tesla solar tiles.

Yes, that's clearly the way to be transportation energy independent.

Gasafier turns the wood into a gas mix mostly hydrogen (or so im told) this gets filtered and run throught a generator. typically a genny designed for propane but a gas generator can work too by removing the carb and basically making your own, either with simple hand turned butterfly valves, or you can do oxygen sensing stuff, servos and an Arduino or something like that.

Carbon neutral because the trees being burned got there mass by absorbing carbon from the air, so burning it would be returning it back to the air. maybe carbon neutral-ish is a better descriptor

Learned at a young age to call alligators in the swamp, it really works grunting them over for a quick trip to the skinning table and hot oil bath for the tail.
people pay decent for gator skins?

Carbon neutral because the gasoline being burned got its mass by absorbing carbon from the air, so burning it would be returning it back to the air.

So it is actually no more carbon neutral than using gasoline UNLESS for every mole of carbon dioxide you produce you grow, within a short period of time, trees that contain an equal number of moles of carbon. You have described the carbon cycle. It can stay in equilibrium for ever as long as the partition of carbon between wood and similar "fuels" on/in the ground and in CO2 in the atmosphere stays in balance. If we release CO2 that was trapped millions of years ago and instead of growing vegetation to reabsorb and return that to earth instead cut down the trees that can do that job obviously the equilibrium moves in the wrong direction.

I still think it's easier to do a solar system. Buy some panels, put them on a frame, wire them up an connect to an inverter. Plug the car into the inverter.

With what’s going on in some major city’s in America today I am sure some folks would like to have had the Cybertruck instead of a conventional vehicle.
Except for the tires and possibly the windshield I would think the Cybertruck would fair pretty well against fire, rocks and such. At least you would not lose the entire vehicle I would hope.
What are the thoughts of members on the durability of this vehicle in a apocalyptic world?
Well musk did say to Leno they want to be leaders in apocalyptic technology.

It's pretty easy to catch a goanna too once you know the trick.

Well I didn't say it because it thought it was implied... if I use fast growth or scrap that would other wise be burned. But yes there will be waste so it's not carbon neutral. But it would be better than gas

Interesting perspective Clay, Firstly let me say, while its not always avoidable, no offence is intended. Sometimes truth and growth is difficult.

I guess a little like you, and your example of where you would have run in to help, I come from a school of thought, where if I see something or a situation overtly requiring a little attention, I see if I can make a difference.

As for the right to comment, “ a dog in the hunt “. I could, and will go 2 ways. If anything I say offends you, please be assured I’m not addressing you. No offence is intended. The other way is, The U.S. became the respected global leader it was, and massive force for good, precisely because it got involved and had a relationship with everyone around the world. Its U.S. soft power that is what’s really made a difference to the world, and gotten the U.S. its influence and gains.

Also friends wouldn’t be friends if they didn’t speak up at least occasionally. And when its obvious, they’d be conspicuous if they weren’t saying something, there's realy no point in shying away.

And Buddy, boy did the U.S. Phuck up big time when it put one giant self serving, zero intelligence guy in charge. He literally single handedly killed tens of thousands of people by simply ignoring reality, and doing nothing for 4 short weeks ! Truelly astounding.

Ironically for buying into the claim of putting America first, its amazing how fast he’s dragging the U.S. backwards. 2020 is such an unbelievable disaster for everybody. But we’re not even half way through !

Now, to any body else, I’m not pulling down anyone’s pants and pointing to their great inadequacy,

They themselves have pulled them down, and are shuffling around everywhere, with their orange pubes on display. We are all shocked and are trying to distance ourselves from the horror

Not an attack, just an observation, now we see just how far, the most stupidest, privileged trust fund baby can get. . . . in a system that has clearly broken down.

I like a little bit of history, its worth noting at the turn of 1900’s, Germany was a real powerhouse of a country, culturally, economically, scientifically, militarily, a few years of enablers and sycophants serving an inept and foolish leader, and you guys know where the story eventually ends up. . . . .

. . . . And they lived happily ever after, especially when Elon built the Cybertruck and sold it to them, and everyone else around the world. Once the world threw away the race to find a vaccine for Covid 19, and gave all the money to Elon, to put up Cybertruck factories everywhere.

P.S. Does anyone remember that hilarious Top Gear episode where they went down south and the challenge was not to be shot or arrested ! But they would get bonus points if they could get one of the others to ! I still love that :D

They could re do the episode with Cybertruck's that would be AWESOME.
And give Bill Burr a part in the story somewhere

Yep, that's it. Doesn't even have to be a long stick. I used to carry a sectionable fishing rod when I went down there. With the Komodos its different. You just walk up to them. Problem is you don't know who is going to get grabbed by whom. In the national park the rangers carry a forked stick and if one starts to show too much interest in a visitor they just shove them out of the way with it

Geo,

Which zero intelligence guy in charge are you referring to? Can’t be President Xi. He’s not really in charge, the CCP is. The doctor but not MD who is in charge of the WHO who told us that Covid19 could not be transmitted person to person in December 2019. Could be. President Trump banned incoming flights from China at the end of January after Xi banned flights from Wuhan province to other places within China but approved them to all other places in the world. That’s not so dumb. Maybe he should have declared WW3 right then. He didn’t because he wasn’t interested in killing 1.4 billion innocent Chinese. But Governor Cuomo of NY state and Mayor DiBlasio from NYCity encouraged partying through St Patrick’s Day and mingling of Covid 19 infected former inpatients with nursing home and long term care seniors which killed nearly 50,000 of them in NY State alone.
Dumb people are the ones who deny the reality of herd immunity, like Blue State governors who lockdown their states for no established reason except to ruin their states economy and follow the Nancy Pelosi / Chuck Schumer / Adam Schiff Party Line of race baiting and economic disempowerment of minorities. How many times does Trump have to wipe the floor with Pelosi before he gains your approval?

Hey Artie, I’m sure there’s at some blame that others also need to take responsibility for in the U.S.

But there ’s 2 or 3 certain major facts that point directly to one specific individual.
Orange man himself.

Lockdowns: They are part of a scientific response determined long ago, and have been applied in many many many countries around the world. Virus’s are not new. Lockdowns are not a political parties ideology. It is not a democrat's conspiracy to keep their states lockdown. Its a question damed if you do, damned if you don't. Don't you think economy's still deteriorate, when body's overflow morgues and people take notice and recoil in their behaviours and spending patterns !

Scientific fact, Lockdowns should have, and could have started sooner in the U.S. and then they would have ended sooner. We all still have to wait and see how the story still unfolding plays out !

Trump has been fighting the U.S. CDC and other scientific resources ! if it was completely up to him, he would have continued to do nothing ! The body count would have been way higher !

The flight ban was something, but way way short of all the actions that should have been taken, and at the critical time they should have been taken.

Herd immunity is real. When to go for it, what is at risk to go for it, when its a viable option to go for it, is again predominantly a scientific question. Firstly based on an assessment of how deadly and how quickly the virus spreads, and any other attribute about it are learnt. As its new !!

If a political objective tries to influence that, its done at the risk of lives and the economy. (the lives and lively hoods of even more people)

In so far as the virus and the Chinese are concerned. They did try to deny it to their own population first. The Chinese govt being what they are !

But the whole world became formally aware on Dec 31, 2019 and followed along closely and responded. Some better than others, some affected more than others. The Chinese actions prior to Dec 31, is not what the criticism levelled at Trump is about.

By the way, many senior people embedded in the WHO are U.S. nationals if not U.S. government connected officials. So the U.S. had an edge over all the other countries in the world !

Nobody in the world failed their population and their economy more than U.S., although Brazil is giving the U.S a run for its money.

P.S. Trump literally dismantled the Pandemic Response Office ! One could easily make the claim he could be criminally negligent ! In trying to sue China, I know how I would respond if I was them !

Geo,,

You ‘re wrong about lockdowns for coronavirus in general and Covid 19 In particular. I’ve already given some references on this site. A new book has been published which led to a twitter skirmish between Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos earlier today when Amazon tried to suppress its publication. Lockdowns cause more deaths for seniors than letting the herd mingle socially distanced from susceptible seniors and others with immunocompromise. That’s on Tucker Carlson’s show tonite too. Lockdowns cause the virus to linger without effective development of herd immunity. Lockdowns and abetting rioting are mutually exclusive destructive political acts. Turn on Tucker Carlson right now and learn. Alex Berenson is the author.
